God’s Household: Beyond the Division

"He Himself is our peace, who has made the two one and has destroyed the dividing wall of hostility” (Ephesians 2:14).

Anchored in Ephesians 2:14 — “For He Himself is our peace” — this initiative invites the Church to embody Christ's peace through prayer, presence, and gospel-shaped solidarity with and for immigrant communities.

Lent returns us to the heart of the gospel. It reminds us that humanity’s deepest division — our separation from God because of sin — has been decisively addressed through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. At the cross, hostility is slain, reconciliation is accomplished, and a new people is formed. Reconciliation with God through Christ is the fountainhead of every other reconciliation. Because He has made peace between God and sinful humanity, He alone can make peace among us. He does not erase difference; He destroys hostility. He does not flatten identity; He forms one new people under His lordship. He gathers us into one household — built on grace, shaped by repentance, strengthened by faith, and governed by His Word.

This campaign has a two-fold purpose: first, to strengthen and unify the Church through spiritual formation rooted in the gospel; and second, to call us into prayer, compassion, and faithful accompaniment with immigrant communities who are carrying fear and uncertainty. It offers sermon outlines, prayer resources, graphics, and practical tools to help your church participate in ways that fit your local context. It is not partisan. It is biblical. It is evangelical in the fullest sense of the word — grounded in the authority of Scripture, centered on the cross of Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit.

This Is Not One-Size-Fits-All

This is a buffet of faithful practices. You do not need to do everything. You are invited to discern what fits your congregation, your leadership capacity, and your local context. Some may preach the full sermon series. Others may host a prayer gathering. Others may simply read the prayer weekly during worship. Participation is flexible. The witness is shared.

Preach & Teach

At the heart of this initiative is the conviction that the Church is formed first through the faithful preaching and teaching of Scripture.

We have prepared seven sermon and teaching outlines grounded in Ephesians 2 and the theology of God’s Household — exploring reconciliation, belonging, unity, and the peace secured through the cross of Jesus Christ.

These outlines are:

  • Biblically rooted and exegetically grounded

  • Theologically evangelical

  • Pastorally sensitive

  • Designed for congregational settings

  • Flexible and fully contextualizable

You may preach:

  • One stand alone sermon

  • A short teaching series

  • Or the full seven-week Lenten journey

The outlines are meant to serve you — not constrain you. Adapt them to your voice, your tradition, and your congregation’s needs.

This is not about partisan framing.

It is about gospel formation. Through faithful proclamation, we remind the Church that Christ does not merely bring peace — He Himself is our peace.

Pray & Live it Out

Prayer is not passive — it is faithful witness.

Download the prayer and incorporate it into: Sunday worship, midweek gatherings, small groups, prayer vigils, personal devotion.

If you feel led, record a reading of the prayer and post it using #FaithfulWitness and tagging others to join you.

Feel free to also upload your recording using the link below. Once submitted, our team will edit and compile contributions into an aggregate prayer video reflecting the Evangelical Church praying together across regions.

Practice

Faithful witness also takes embodied form. As appropriate to your context, consider taking actions listed in the link below. These actions are not about publicity. They are about obedience. They are about living as members of God’s Household in faithful accompaniment.

Feel free to also tag us if any pictures are posted using #FaithfulWitness

Share the Witness Visibly

We have created a plethora of graphics and visual resources to help you communicate this Lenten initiative clearly and creatively within your own congregation and networks.

These resources include:

  • Social media graphics and banners

  • Scripture slides

  • Quote cards

  • Story templates

  • Sermon visuals

  • Campaign identifiers

You are encouraged to contextualize and adapt them to reflect your local voice, language, and setting. Add your church logo. Translate them. Pair them with your own reflections. Use what serves your people best.

This is not about uniform branding.

It is about shared theological witness.

When posting, please use #FaithfulWitness - tag others and invite them.

Tagging helps demonstrate that this is a unified evangelical witness across networks and regions.
