We are deeply disturbed by the death of Mr. Joan Sebastian Guerrero in Biddeford, Maine. This tragic loss of life comes less than one week after the death of Mr. Lorenzo Salgado Araujo in Houston, Texas, both at the hands of ICE enforcement officials.

The National Latino Evangelical Coalition (NaLEC) expresses profound sorrow and deep concern over today's Supreme Court decisions affecting immigration protections, particularly those impacting Temporary Protected Status (TPS) holders and also asylum seekers at the border. These rulings place thousands of families in uncertainty and jeopardy, including Haitian and Syrian TPS holders who have relied on these protections while fleeing natural disasters, humanitarian crises, violence, etc.
