Beyond Election Day: NALEC Releases “With Love,” a Guide to Faithful Voting
ORLANDO, Fla. — The National Latino Evangelical Coalition (NALEC) today announced the release of With Love: A Christian Guide to Faithful Voting, a nonpartisan resource that places the 2026 election within a larger conversation about faith, citizenship, and the future of our shared public life.
“Elections decide who governs but they also reveal how we understand our obligations to one another,” said Rev. Dr. Gabriel Salguero, President and Founder of NALEC. “The way we campaign, disagree, vote, and respond to the results helps shape the country we leave our children. Our responsibility to America and to our neighbors continues long after Election Day.”
Released in the year of America’s 250th anniversary, With Love approaches elections as part of the continuing work of self-government. Its central reminder is simple: after the election, we will still be neighbors. We will share schools, workplaces, congregations, and communities. The choices made during an election season carry into that shared life.
The guide offers three questions for considering candidates: Do they demonstrate love of neighbor? Show trustworthy character? Use power responsibly? It pairs Scripture and reflection with a candidate checklist, practical voting preparation, and guidance for navigating disagreement. It endorses no candidate or political party.
The guide's purpose extends beyond November. It connects electoral choices with the character of public life: how people seek reliable information, consider the consequences of policy, treat those with whom they disagree, and understand the responsibilities entrusted to elected leaders.
“Our faith teaches us that every person bears the image of God. That conviction has consequences for how we enter the public square,” Salguero said. “We can bring conviction, honesty, humility, and care for our neighbors to the democratic process. Those commitments belong in every election, and in the life we share between elections.”
