"We agree Mr. President"...Keep Your Word. Protect Dreamers: NaLEC Calls for Permanent Legislative Protection

October 7, 2026 | Orlando, Florida

Promises must lead to action. For thousands of Dreamers who have grown up, studied, worked, and built their lives in the United States, the uncertainty surrounding their future has continued for far too long.

As part of our Hispanic Heritage Month “Month of Action,” the National Latino Evangelical Coalition (NaLEC) is calling on President Donald Trump and Congress to work together toward a bipartisan legislative solution that provides permanent legal protection for Dreamers.

Following President Trump’s previously expressed support for allowing Dreamers to remain in the United States, NaLEC has launched a new digital advocacy campaign urging national leaders to turn those words into meaningful legislative action.

For NaLEC, this is more than a policy discussion. It is about families, communities, and young people whose lives and futures are deeply rooted in the country they call home.

“Our faith will not allow us to grow comfortable with their uncertainty.” — Rev. Dr. Gabriel Salguero, President of NaLEC

For years, Latino evangelical churches and pastors have walked alongside immigrant families, witnessing firsthand the emotional, economic, and personal consequences of prolonged uncertainty.

Grounded in our biblical commitment to love our neighbors and uphold the God-given dignity of every person, NaLEC continues to advocate for an immigration reform that respects the rule of law while providing lasting solutions.

As we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, we must do more than recognize the contributions of Latino communities. We must also advocate for a future in which Dreamers can continue contributing, serving, and building their lives with dignity and stability.

The time for promises alone has passed. It is time for bipartisan leadership, meaningful action, and permanent protection. Dreamers have waited long enough!
