NaLEC stands with Venezuela: A Hope Response in the midst of crisis

Our hearts are with the people of Venezuela following the devastating earthquakes that struck the country on June 24, causing significant loss of life, widespread destruction, and displacement across affected communities.


The disaster killed 164 people, injured nearly 1,000, and trapped many beneath collapsed buildings. Authorities continue to assess the full impact as search-and-rescue operations to locate hundreds of people still missing.


Where did the earthquakes occur?

The earthquakes were centered near the coastal region west of Caracas, with strong shaking felt across the capital and several surrounding states. Damage has been reported in Caracas, La Guaira, and other nearby communities.

 

What are the most urgent needs?

In the immediate aftermath of a major earthquake, affected families often need:

  • Emergency shelter

  • Safe drinking water

  • Food assistance

  • Medical care

  • Hygiene supplies

  • Child protection and psychosocial support

  • Temporary learning spaces for children

Needs assessments are ongoing and may change as more information becomes available.


As families grieve, search-and-rescue efforts continue, and communities begin the long road to recovery, we stand in prayerful solidarity with our Venezuelan brothers and sisters.


How can I help the people impacted by the earthquake?

As part of our response, and in partnership with World Vision and The Gathering in Orlando FL & NJ, we are launching a disaster relief effort to support children and families impacted by this tragedy.


Contributions will help provide emergency assistance, including shelter, clean water, food, medical care, hygiene supplies, and other critical resources for those affected.
